1970 Monteverdi Hai 450 SS coupé prototype to steal the show at Bonhams Retromobile sale

For all car enthusiasts, especially all you retro car fanatics, Bonhams will be hosting a Retromobile sale in Paris on Jan. 23. At this sale, the star attraction is touted to be the extremely rare 1970 Monteverdi Hai 450 SS coupé prototype. Designed by Swiss businessman Peter Monteverdi to compete with the Ferrari, this prototype car was one of the earliest mid-engine supercars ever built. The rare supercar “represented the pinnacle of the contemporary avant-garde performance car thinking” when it was first exhibited. The car is capable of over 176 mph and can do 0 – 60 in 4.7 seconds. Looking hot in pink, this car cost twice as much as an Aston Martin when it was built. At the auction, this ex-Geneva Motor Show, ex-Pebble Beach Concours is expected to fetch up to €500,000 ($750,000).
