Babe Ruth’s first New York Yankees jersey auctioned for a record breaking $4.4 million!

The Sultan of Swat, the late George Herman “Babe” Ruth still remains a MLB legend and his brilliant slugger who was traded to the New York Yankees in 1919 has now had his first ever Yankees jersey auctioned for a record-breaking price to an undisclosed enthusiast. At $4,415,658, this is now a record set for a sports memorabilia sale, put into action by SCP Auctions in California. A woollen jersey in essence, this one was sold by a private collector and is known for its role during Babe Ruth’s record breaking New York Yankees season, after his transfer from the Boston Red Sox that left his previous team with the struggling legendary “Curse of the Bambino”.
