Casino Royale, the first issue of the first James Bond novel is up for $78,000


If you call yourself a true James Bond fan, you would have, at least heard of Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale book which was the source of the inspiration of the 007 flicks that we so enjoy. The first printing copy of the first James Bond book that released on 13 April 1953 in the UK, is now up for sale. The book, which went as a hardcover edition by publishers Jonathan Cape, priced at 10s, 6d each, with a cover devised by Fleming himself, had about 4,728 copies sold out in less than a month!

The stunning book is in immaculate condition with only some foxing to the page edge and end-papers. The wrapper, which is unrestored, is not price clipped, has no chips and no sunning to the spine. The rare, collectors’ item is now up for sale at Vintage Seekers for a price of $78,000.
