J.M.W Turner’s masterpiece to be auctioned by Sotheby’s New York for 12 – 16 mil


Artist Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) was a noted English romantic landscape painter, watercolorist, and printmaker who is considered to have laid the foundation for Impressionism. About twenty or so of Turner’s works remain today in private collections. One of the three landscapes done by Turner that concern ancient Greece is The Temple of Jupiter Panellius, which has been in the private collection for the last 25 years. The magnificent work of art is expected to fetch something between $12-16 million at the time of purchase.
