Larry Ellison’s 1995 McLaren F1 fetches $3,575,000 at Gooding & Company’s auction

Gooding & Company’s auction during Pebble Beach weekend was a success with many cars fetching way over their estimated amounts. The highlight of this auction was Larry Ellison’s 1995 McLaren F1. The McLaren lived up to its pre sale estimate and fetched a cool $3,575,000, putting it at #5 on Gooding’s top ten money earners that weekend. The car is only 15 years old and only cost $970,000 when it was purchased. The McLaren is probably the only production car out there in the last 30 years, and certainly the only nineties car, and hence it was a given that this car would generate the most interest among car enthusiasts.

The top grosser at this sale was a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione that fetched $7,260,000! However, it was the Oracle founder’s car that managed to be a showstopper.
