Pair of rare yellow diamonds to be auctioned by Christie’s in New York

In the mood for some bling, then grab some change and head out to New York City. Christie’s is auctioning off a pair of yellow diamonds on October 18. The rare Vivid Fancy pear-shaped diamond is all of 32.77 carats and is projected to bring about $8 million. The other diamond, aptly named the Golden Eye is flawless and weighs 43.51 carats. Although no estimate has been confirmed for this diamond Rahul Kakadia, Christie’s Head of Jewelry, said in his statement, “In the world of diamonds, a naturally colored stone of this incredible color and size represents a freak occurrence — an infrequent geological phenomenon.” However, we are predicting the change in the pocket may not be enough for this auction.
Update – The Golden Eye fetched $2,843,623.
Update – Forbes reported that the 32.77-carat yellow diamond sold for more than $6.5 million at Christie’s New York Magnificent Jewels auction held Tuesday.
