Ruby slippers from Wizard of OZ to go under the hammer

There are very few people who weren’t touched by Dorothy’s story and all the other characters from the Wizard of Oz; some learned a few lessons in life and living from the iconic movie too. And you can now take a bit of the magic home as the last pair of Judy “Dorothy” Garland’s the Ruby Red Slippers goes under the hammer at Profiles in History. How is it different from the other three pairs used in the film you ask, well, they are the most special of them all!

To start with, the inner lining reads “#7 Judy Garland” with red leather felt-less insoles, indicating that these may have been used for the extra-close-up or “insert” shots, where Judy Garland taps her heels together at the film’s climax. Estimated to fetch between $2,000,000 and $3,000,000, these near-mint condition shoes are sure to break a few records in the bargain!
