The Gentleman’s Library Sale to auction the famous Downing Street Sign


The Gentleman’s Library Sale which is scheduled to be held on the 20th of January is offering quite a few stunning antiques, among which is the 19th century Downing Street Road sign, which is one of the most famous street signs in the world. The sign made from cast iron with raised lettering on a white ground is priced between 4000-6000 GBP($6500-$9800) The auction also features the Gavin Littaur Collection of antique letter boxes, very popular during the 1840’s and has some historical significance attached to it. The sale also includes a huge skeleton of an ice age cave bear (between 50-100 million years ago) and a fossil of Crinoid from the Holzmaden shales in German dating from the Jurassic period, which are one of the most sought after forms of fossils.
