Sotheby’s seem to be having a roll in Hong Kong. Now, Sotheby’s Hong Kong auctioned a small cylinder of white jade with an imperial seal at a record $12.4million, double the original price it fetched in 2007. The piece originally belonged to the Chinese Emperor Qianlong of the Qing dynasty. The seal face bears the characters Tai Shang Huang Di which depicts that it to be from the Treasure of the Emperor Emeritus. Another pearl necklace from Emperor Yongzheng estimating to fetch HK$1.55m, earned a massive $8.75m.
