Italian fashion and leather goods brand Gucci, known for its Diamante pattern as well as trademark green and red-web stripes, has put an end to months of speculation by finally foraying into cosmetics line. For Gucci cosmetics, the brand’s creative director Frida Gianni teamed up with makeup artist Pat McGrath. While we may not be able to get our hands on the products until next month, Gucci gave us a sneak peek of the 200-piece makeup line at the Milan Fashion Week.
For the runway show, McGrath started by creating a flawless base using Lustrous Glow Foundation, Luminous Perfecting Concealer and Luxe Finishing Powder. The makeup artist used Magnetic Color Shadow Quad in Tuscan Storm and Color Shadow Mono in Iconic Gold for eye shadows. To create dramatically thick eyelashes, she used Opulent Volume Mascara in Cocoa. For the lips, McGrath chose Luxurious Moisture-Rich Lipstick in Nude Satin.
The makeup line will be presented in regal black and gold packaging embossed with the brand’s signature Guccissima pattern. The cosmetics will be inline with the brand’s signature color palette: Gold, black, red, ottanio, bronze and copper.
After Burberry, Chanel, Yves Saint Lauren, Dior among other high-end fashion labels who have laid a foundation of couture on mass-market cosmetics, it was only natural for Gucci to add makeup line to its brand. Gucci may be a little late but by what we have seen so far, it sure has arrived.
