Is the world ready for Chanel’s first-ever men’s wear makeup line?

Why should boys have all the fun? French luxury house Chanel is out to capitalize on the spiralling trend of men’s grooming products with the first-ever men’s wear make-up line.

Inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s lover and muse Boy Capel, this novel-fangled collection will fall under Chanel’s Boy franchise. It’s honestly as exciting as it sounds with a three-piece Boy de Chanel entailing a tinted fluid in four colours, a matte moisturizing balm, and four shades of eyebrow pencil.

On the line, the company released a statement:

“Just as Gabrielle Chanel borrowed elements from the men’s wardrobe to dress women, Chanel draws inspiration from the women’s world to write the vocabulary of a new personal aesthetic for men. Lines, colors, attitudes, gestures… There is no absolutely feminine or masculine prerequisite: Style alone defines the person we wish to be. By creating Boy de Chanel, its first makeup line for men, Chanel reaffirms the ever-changing codes of an unchanging vision: Beauty is not a matter of gender, it is a matter of style.”

Our South Korean makeup fans definitely have an advantage given that the range is making an exclusive debut with select retailers in the region next month. Come November, the product range will be rolled out on the brand’s e-commerce platform with a global release in stores in January 2019.
