1953 Siata 208S Spyder owned by Steve McQueen for sale for $1.295 million

California’s Fantasy Junction is offering for sale the sporty 1953 Siata 208S Spyder, once owned by the famed star for $1.295 million! One of only 35 ever built, this Italian roadster is one of the first foreign sports cars owned by the actor. The actor purchased the brand new Siata 208S Spyder from McAfee Engineering. The car was subsequently bought from McQueen by Bruce Sand, a doctor and former UCLA Medical School student who claims that the actor had removed the front nose badge, put a Ferrari shield on it, and called it his “little Ferrari”.

The car boasts of 2.3 Litre 8-cylinder Fiat engine and also features a very rare set of Heuer racing instruments (watch and stop-watch), which are affixed to the dashboard. So if you claim to be the biggest fan of the “King of Cool’, you had better park this beauty in your abode.
The iconic car was formerly part of the Cars of Steve McQueen exhibition at The Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles and is also featured in the 2007 book McQueen’s Machines. Restored to perfection (with engine completely rebuilt), this car has won accolades at many concours d’elegance.
