At $116 million Paul Pogba becomes the most expensive summer signing in Europe

At £89,000,000 (which is nearly $116 million, Frenchman Paul Pogba sails into Manchester United this season. He was associated with the club as a 16-year old but then moved on to foreign shores to try his luck. His last stint was with the Old Lady of Turin (Juventus Football Club) where he contributed with his nimble playmaking capabilities. The star didn’t really shine for France at the recent Euro 2016 held in his home country but the team did spearhead to the finals. That said, Manchester United decided that the star deserved to be absorbed back into the main team and this time at the record transfer fee.

Fans are vary about the club’s decision with the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier this year for a comparatively lower fee. Manchester United have notoriously commanded the position of being the ‘world’s most popular football club’ and the hype and money put behind this move is surely testimony to that.

At the age of 23, Pogba will earn the equivalent of $380,000 per week and this is insured with a 5-year contract. What more could anyone ask for? It’s time for Real Madrid and Barcelona to take notes.
