Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen is the new face of Chanel No. 5

Gisele Bundchen has been announced as the new face of Chanel No. 5. The Brazilian supermodel follows in the footsteps of Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt and Marilyn Monroe to endorse the iconic fragrance first launched in 1921 by Gabrielle Chanel. Gisele Bundchen, has consistently for seven years been named as the world’s top earning model by Forbes and is no stranger to Chanel. She is currently also the face of the brand’s Les Beiges make-up line.

According to a Chanel spokesperson, the 33-year-old model was chosen for her natural beauty and modern femininity to represent the French brand. Reportedly, Gisele has shot a video for the campaign this week at New York with film director Baz Luhrmann.

Director Baz Luhrmann was also the man behind Nicole Kidman’s ‘I love to Dance’ commercial for Chanel in 2004 for which the Oscar-winning actress was paid $3.71 million, the highest ever paid to a celebrity endorser. The four-minute commercial failed to do much for the actress as well as the brand. However, Brad Pitt’s was the worst and received much criticism. His Greek God looks and charm too couldn’t save the ad campaign and went on to become one of the worst commercials. Let’s just hope Gisele’s advert is unfazed by the brand’s commercial past. The campaign is slated to launch by the end of this year.
