Marc Jacobs has unveiled a new muse for their Marc Jacobs’ Fall/Winter campaign – the multi-talented, award-winning, gorgeous 69-year-old Cher. Photographed by David Sims, Cher’s look is best defined ‘fierce’ – as she is seen dressed in a semi-sheer, pleated, black dress, topped off by an embellished jacket and finished with gloves while her signature dark long hair fall down her shoulders.
Only recently the singer was seen attending the 2015 MET awards hand in hand with the designer himself. At the event, Cher was seen wearing a Marc Jacobs metallic, fish scale-embellished, three-quarter-sleeve dress.
Jacobs, who has been an ardent fan of the singer even as a child have always been intrigued by the singer’s style. “Other boys were out fascinated by other things. I was like, No, I’d really much rather see what Cher’s wearing this week,” he said.
While it is exciting, it isn’t the first time older artists have represented designer labels – like Joan Didion for Céline and Joni Mitchell for Saint Laurent, for these women in their 60s and 70s do bring a certain amount of flair with them. For Jacobs, this isn’t the first time the brand has stayed away from the pretty, young faces in the business and chose someone older – and prettier, if I may add, for their campaigns. Jessica Lange, 65, was chosen for his Marc Jacobs Beauty campaign last year.
Kudos to your fine taste, Mr Jacobs!
