Kristen Stewart bags a role in Karl Lagerfeld’s short film as Coco Chanel

While rumours were doing the rounds on a work-in-progress film by Karl Lagerfeld, we can now confirm that the glamorous role of Coco Chanel will be played by Twilight star Kristen Stewart. A seasoned name in Chanel campaigns and runway front-row seats, Stewart has been roped in to portray a young version of Chanel’s founder.

While Geraldine Chaplin will play a middle-aged Coco Chanel, Harper’s Bazaar editor Laura Brown will be an American journalist. To give you some further details; the art film will be mostly shot in Karl Lagerfeld’s office and corridor. The plot, dialogue, costumes and casting has been conceptualized by none than him!

Slated for a December release, the film will debut at the French fashion house’s 12th annual Métiers d’Arts show. “She played it really, really mean,” described Lagerfeld of Stewart’s portrayal. “You only see her in tests and she’s complaining about everything. She’s mean with the director; mean with the producer.”
