Roman Abramovich to host extravagant New Year bash at island of Saint Barthélemy
With the holiday season underway, celebrities are competing against each other to host some of the most extravagant bashes ever. One such hot-shot A-lister is none other than Roman Abramovich. The owner of Chelsea football club along with his girlfriend is touted to host one of the most extravagant New Year bashes. He and his girlfriend Daria Zhukova are expected to spend up to £3m ($4.8million) on a beach party for 250 people on the Caribbean resort island of Saint Barthélemy. The billionaire recently purchased the Gouverneur Bay estate, a £54m ($86.4million) 70-acre cove surrounded by hills that lead down to a beach. He plans to use this entire bay as a party space. A glittering event filled with celebrities, it is reported that Prince and two other performers will be entertaining the guests that night. A fleet of private jets will be on hand for guests without transport to reach the secluded island. The beach will be converted into one giant stage a flotilla of luxury vessels will crowd the bay and at midnight fireworks will be launched off the bow of one of Abramovich’s yachts.
Guests can enjoy amenities including a swimming pool with swim-up bar, as well as an outdoor stage and cinema. Although the guest list is closely guarded, rumor mills are already spinning with names like Sir Philip Green, Jude Law and Simon Cowell, who are all only 40 minutes or so away by jet. A memorable bash that will mark a grand entry for the billionaire on this island, reportedly the budget for drinks, food and transport is said to be £1.8m ($2.8million) and for the performers a combined £1.2m ($1.9million).
