Topping at a million dollars per post, here are the top 10 Instagram earners for 2018 and the crazy money they make

Instagram may have started out as a social media platform to post selfies and pictures of food, but it has quickly turned into a gold-mine for anyone savvy enough to earn “Influencer” status. Influencers are simply Instagram user who have a lot of followers and can generate high engagement and they exist in verticals from travel to beauty to technology and even food. Influencers make money from ads and sponsored posts. While influencer status was previously reserved for web content creators like bloggers, these days anyone can be a brand from models to actresses and even reality stars. Recently the UK based data company Hopper HQ released their list of Instagram’s highest earners and to nobody’s surprise, the list features three of the 5 world famous Kardashian-Jenner sisters.

1. Kylie Jenner: 111 million followers, $1m (£760,000) per post
The youngest Kardashian-Jenner sister leads the pack with a whopping $1million per sponsored post. She usually promotes her own makeup brand on her Insta, but you’ll also find the occasional ad for hair gummies.

2. Selena Gomez: 139 million followers, $800,000 per post
A picture of Selena sipping coke through a straw was Instagram’s most liked images for a while so of course, she’s on this list. Puma was one of the brands that recently wrote her a paycheck for an Instagram ad.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo: 137 million followers, $750,000 per post
This world famous athlete is an obvious choice for brands looking to improve online visibility. He recently completed a paid promotion with Sixpad – a company that makes workout equipment.

#Ad Nothing ever stopped me from being me until #morningsickness. You know how sick I was while pregnant; I could barely get out of bed. That was before I found a safe & effective med to treat my morning sickness when diet & lifestyle changes didn’t help. I hear there’s a new formulation of the drug combination I took that’s made to work faster & longer. If you’re pregnant & feeling sick & changing your diet & lifestyle doesn’t work, ask your doctor about Bonjesta® (doxylamine succinate/pyridoxine HCl). Most common side effect is drowsiness. Bonjesta.com for safety info. For U.S. residents only. INDICATION Bonjesta® is a prescription medicine to treat nausea & vomiting of pregnancy in women who haven’t improved with change in diet/other non-medicine treatments. Bonjesta® hasn’t been studied in children under 18. LIMITATIONS OF USE It isn’t known if Bonjesta® is safe & effective in women with severe nausea & vomiting of pregnancy (hyperemesis gravidarum). Women with this condition may need to be hospitalized. SELECT SAFETY INFORMATION Don’t take Bonjesta® if you’re allergic to doxylamine succinate, other ethanolamine derivative antihistamines, pyridoxine hydrochloride or any ingredients in Bonjesta®. See Patient Information leaflet for complete list of ingredients. Don’t take Bonjesta® in combination with medicines called MAOIs, as these medicines can intensify & prolong adverse central nervous system (CNS) effects of Bonjesta®. Ask your healthcare provider/pharmacist if you aren’t sure if you take an MAOI. The most common side effect of Bonjesta® is drowsiness. Don’t drive, operate heavy machinery or do other activities that need your full attention unless your healthcare provider says you can. Don’t drink alcohol, or take other CNS depressants such as cough & cold medicines, certain pain medicines & medicines that help you sleep while taking Bonjesta®. Severe drowsiness can happen or become worse causing falls/accidents. Bonjesta® may result in false positive urine drug screening for methadone, opiates and PCP. Duchesnay USA encourages you to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch or call 1-800-FDA-1088

4. Kim Kardashian West: 114 million followers, $720,000 per post
This list would not be complete without the “Influencer” who boasts 114m followers! Like Kylie, Kim also focuses on her own beauty brand these days, but she can still rake in just under $800,000 from posts promoting morning sickness pills.

5. Beyonce Knowles: 116 million followers, $700,000 per post
Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s recent Apeshit video probably helped the Louvre museum make a pretty penny! The Queen’s Instagram aesthetic does not seem to center sponsorships and since she very rarely posts captions anyway, it’s unclear which featured items could be part of a sponsorship.

6. Dwayne Johnson: 111 million followers, $650,000 per post
The Rock also keeps his sponsorships under the radar as the only products he promoted openly were the sneakers that were part of his collaboration with Under Armor.

7. Justin Bieber: 101 million followers, $630,000 per post
Justin’s crazy army of fans will buy anything promoted by their idol, so it’s unsurprising that he’s raking in over half a million per post. Similar to some of his peers, he does not seem to disclose partnerships and no particular brands stand out on his feed.

8. Neymar da Silva Santos Junior: 100 million followers, $600,000 per post
Soccer star Neymar Jr. likely earned a pretty penny from his posts promoting online shopping site Wish and of course the athlete’s staple brand Nike. Note that the partnerships weren’t disclosed, but these are obvious examples of ad content.
