AMG Retro Collection from Mercedes-Benz Accessories marks 45th anniversary
![]()
Decades ago, on the 1st of June 1967 to be precise, Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, both engineers of Mercedes Benz, formed the AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (AMG Engine Production and Development, Ltd.) and a few years later in 1971 managed to win the second place at the 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps with the 300 SEL 6.8. To commemorate these game-changing occasions, AMG Retro Edition from Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH was recently unveiled. Line includes a classic white polo shirt with a red highlighting theme complete with the date 1971 and the 300 SEL 6.8’s number “35”. Also included in the line is a similarly themed cap with the older AMG logo, the date and the car’s number emblazoned with the legend “Founded in 1967”.
And that’s not all. The AMG Retro Edition from Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH line includes a calfskin-made weekend travel bag, a wallet and a belt with the aforementioned legend stamped and the AMG logo embossed. To top it all, the line consists of a matt silver-colored rhodium-plated brass AMG logo pin, a coffee mug and two classic espresso cups making it a perfect tribute to the founding of this bespoke company and its first race win!
