See it to believe it = Christian Louboutin collaborates with an Indian designer for an out of this world collection

French footwear and accessory designer Christian Louboutin has collaborated with Indian couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee to create a limited edition collection of footwear. The collection includes sneakers, heels and ankle boots all dressed up in Indian fabrics, and packed with details like embroidery and embellishment.

Louboutin visited Sabyasachi’s home in Kolkata where he discovered the designer’s trove of saris and ribbons.

These cutoffs and leftovers which the Indian designer has accumulated over the years were incorporated into this elaborate collection.

The collection includes 15 designs for women and four for men.

A very limited number of shoes have been created and they will be available at eight locations, including Bergdorf Goodman beginning October 17 and the Christian Louboutin boutique in West Hollywood beginning on October 20.

The collection will hit the shelves at Harrods in the UK on October 11.

The designs are certainly unique and fanciful if a little kitschy.

The variety is impressive and we’re hopeful that we’ll see a few of these shoes on the red carpet.
