Christian Louboutin’s newest show collection is inspired by 1970’s interior design

Christian Louboutin sought inspiration in the swinging ‘60s and ‘70s for his new collection. While both decades were responsible for some truly iconic styles and trends (bell bottoms anyone?) in clothing, the designer actually set his sights on the interior design trends of the decades. The resultant collection is eclectic but glamorous, true to Louboutin’s own whimsical signature.

So what can you expect? A lot! Thigh high boots with a multi-color geometric design, sandals and mules with gilded details, and a simple pump with a sculpted heel. This collection is not retro so much as it is retro-futuristic, and that’s what we love about it. While the printed jacquard fabric covered bags and shoes will undoubtedly be the standouts from this collection, we do love the quirky heeled Elyette pumps which were designed as an homage to designer Michel Boyer.

There are some smart shows for men too, lounge inspired loafers in decadent leopard print or modern ankle top sneakers with contrasting materials. The collection is not available for purchase in the US just yet, but we will keep you updated on the availability of the Interior Design collection.
