Gear up for the monsoons with the new $8,000 Artisanal Umbrella

Looking to step out in the rain? Then step out in style, you must, with Japan-based company Visvim’s latest creation, the Atelier Umbrella.

This is no mere umbrella but the result of six months of craftsmanship using artisanal items from in Paris and an $8,000 price tag. Called the Atelier Umbrella, it has been created as a apart of Visvim’s 2015 autumn/winter collection by founder Hiroki Nakamura, who is known for his Americana and Native American style designs on distressed denim jackets to moccasin-inspired sneakers. His latest creation is made using exquisite materials like goat leather and natural rattan cane, fused together with brass and beechwood handle for functionality and longevity. The skin-dyed cotton fabric is also waterproofed using a special coating technique
