Louis Vuitton is launching a new artsy set of travel books based on the concept of examining different cultures through the eyes of an artist unfamiliar with them. This will be a change from Louis Vuitton’s previous City Guides, which since its launch in 1998 spans over 100 destinations. Previously the famed French brand has also a legendary trunks book, a art, fashion & architecture book and a book on modern luxury. This unique artsy travel book will see Congolese artist Chéri Samba show Paris through her eyes, American Daniel Arsham show Easter Island, Frenchman Jean – Philippe Delhomme show New York and Japanese illustrator Natsko Seki show London. This concept of ‘Stranger in the City’ will expand to include Venice through the drawings of manga artist Jiro Taniguchi and Vietnam through Italian comic books illustrator Lorenzo Mattotti in 2014.
The books will be available in bilingual versions, English & French and will be sold in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide, selected bookshops in France and through louisvuitton.com. The regular book will cost $59 and a special limited, numbered and signed edition will cost $2,600.
