Net-a-Porter and its sister site Mr Porter are quickly becoming the collaborator of choice for top design houses. With brands like Gucci, Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana under their (stylish) belts, these e-commerce sites have had a hand in some impressive collections. Most recently Prada joined hands with Mr Porter to create a capsule collection that revolves around bowling of all things.
The collection draws inspiration from the 1950s and 1980s, both decades when bowling was hugely popular and it includes a range of ready-to-wear items as well as footwear. Look out for shirts in pop-cartoon and Hawaiian prints and gingham and madras checks. There will also be block paneled stripe cardigans and stripe knit T-shirts, blouson jackets in satin and suede and two printed t-shirts with exclusive Prada bowling logos. Meanwhile trousers come in both pleated and flat-front avatars, ready to be paired with preppy polo shirts and the collection’s lone bi-color mohair wool blazer.
If the clothing sounds too vintage for you, the shoes might make up for it. Styles like loafers, creeper and cap-toe Derbies and cap-toe sneakers will be crafted in nubuck and deer skin. Prices range from $370 to $3,490. This is the first time Prada has designed an exclusive collection for a retailer, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with. The collection will launch on April 26.
