Saks Fifth Avenue’s debut in shoe-only space slated for 2016

For all our shoe lovers, you would be delighted to know that Manhattan’s much renowned Saks Fifth Avenue is planning to unveil an exclusive shoe-only boutique in 2016. Greenwich will be home to the colossal 14,000 square feet store which is a stone’s throw away from the Saks Fifth Avenue store in the city.

Of course, the name of the store has not yet been decided upon but we’re convinced its management will provide a unique marketing spin (similar to the zip code based name at 10022-Shoe department in Manhattan). Think 11,000 square feet of purely shoe selection with 3,000 square feet for storage.

When asked about carrying the freestanding shoe store format across categories, president of Saks Fifth Avenue, Marc Metrick, responded, “I don’t see us doing this with other categories. This offers us a unique opportunity,” he stated in an interview. “We are definitely looking at [Greenwich] as a learning experience. I do believe this will not be our only one,” Metrick said.
