HTC unveils gold plated special edition One

There’s absolutely no abatement of the gold fever. We are being deluged by a steady stream of gold-treated madness every single day. Blame it all on the champagne gold colored iPhone 5S, it has almost started a new trend. Rumors of gold HTC One surfaced a few weeks back along with some leaked images of only the chassis. Today, the Taiwanese manufacturer announced that it had made five 18-carat gold One smartphones to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the MOBO Awards, a British awards ceremony celebrating “music of black origin.”

HTC partnered with aftermarket customizing company Gold Genie to come up with these ultra-exclusive gold One smartphones limited to only five examples and is priced at £2,750 ($4,400 approx). A Mobo 18 logo is laser etched on the back plate. Though it is not on sale, an awfully similar gold-plated HTC One can be bought for $3000 directly from Gold Genie.
