Not every great smartphone comes with a camera sporting a high-end lens. Keeping that in mind, Zeiss and Fellowes Brand have collaborated to produce lenses for smartphones, which will work as external accessories and offer better picture quality. Fellowes Brand’s ExoLens line of lenses will now feature optics and designs from Zeiss. To begin with, the manufacturers have unveiled three new lenses at CES 2016 that promise to “meet even the highest aesthetic standards.” These lenses will come with black anodized aluminum bodies and will feature anti-reflecting coatings. The lenses will first be launched for the iPhone 6, the 6 Plus, the 6S and the 6S Plus models.
Up ahead, Zeiss and Fellowes Brand will build external lenses for other high-end smartphones as well, bringing premium photography to the world of mobile technology. The ExoLens lineup includes a macro lens that sports a zoom feature, a telephoto lens as well as a wide-angle lens. Apart from this, a 1/4”-20 standard tripod mount and a cold shoe for the new iPhone models are also available. The macro and wide-angle will be sold together for $300. The telephoto lens on the other hand will come separately with a price tag of $199. These lenses are expected to show up on store shelves by the second quarter of 2016.
