So we know that a glass of red wine is good for the body as much as for the mind. Well, things just got better and you can go ahead and pop that bottle of bubbly to celebrate because according to scientists, drinking three glasses of champagne every day can help to prevent the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s. We are doing the happy dance out here!
So what’s the science behind it? Apparently champagne contains of a compound – found in pinot noir and pinot meunier, the black grapes used to your bubbly that can help cure some brain diseases and increase spatial memory. Researched by Professor Jeremy Spencer from Reading University, who has been testing these with rats was quoted saying “the results were dramatic.”
“This research is exciting because it illustrates for the first time that moderate consumption of champagne has the potential to influence cognitive functioning such as memory.”
Sounds almost too easy to be true? Maybe so as it is still early days but any breakthrough is good news for us and the millions suffering from these ailments. Having said that we believe that a lot more study and research ought to have been made even before this news was made public so that people don’t use it as an excuse to pour themselves yet another drink. Binge drinking is a serious problem today and the ailments associated with it, especially among the youth, is not worth rash new findings.
