For those who swear by the fineness of The Glenlivet, there couldn’t be a more palatable proposition. The brand has released a Single Cask Edition Pullman Train Collection, which comprises of three new special-edition whiskies inspired by the Pullman coaches. Each of the whiskies is named based on the Pullman trains: Pullman Club Car, Pullman Twentieth Century Limited and Pullman Water Level Route.
This association has to be attributed to Captain Bill Smith Grant, who was able to persuade the Pullman Company to offer 2-ouce miniatures of the famed scotch in the dining cars as a means of promotion. This became a tradition for many years and today we see the ultimate tribute paid by the wonderful scotch. Alan Winchester, the master distiller, has hand-selected each cask for its exclusivity. Even the transfer from cask to bottle is done without chill filtration, thus retaining the influence of the cask on the flavor.
Each bottle from The Glenlivet Single Cask Edition Pullman Train Collection will retail for $350. The Pullman Club Car will tease the palette with sweet ripe pears, syrupy peaches and creamy milk chocolate flavors, trailed by a hint of nutmeg. The 18-year old whisky will be available in a limited 618 bottle run. The 19-year old Pullman Twentieth Century Limited mixes flavors of honey, golden syrup and creamy vanilla, trailed by floral gorse and will be available in 588 bottles. The Pullman Water Level Route will have only 321 bottles available and mixes gorse, creamy fudge and ripe peach flavors.
