The Plaza Athénée will offer “Dior Menu” by Alain Ducasse during Paris Fashion Week

Already home to Dior Institut, the uber exclusive spa run by Maison Dior, Hotel Plaza Athénée will now offer a “Dior Menu” in one of its restaurants.

The pairing of the Plaza Athénée and Christian Dior runs as far back as 1946, when the couturier first set up shop on 30 Avenue Montaigne, just a few steps from the luxurious palace hotel. The Plaza – that is classically French, except for the seventh and eighth floor that are done in Art Deco – soon became one of his favorites, and also the place to be seen for the city’s tastemakers, models and important businessmen.

Since then, the venue has posed as backdrop in several of his shoots, as well as contributed in his creations, the most noteworthy of them being the Bar suit.

So it’s only fitting that come fashion week, one of its most celebrated establishments, Le Relais Plaza, will offer a menu inspired by Christian Dior’s own cookbook: La Cuisine Cousu-Main; not many are aware but the man wasn’t just a master couturier, he was also a sensational gourmand.

Under the leadership of Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse, Chef Philippe Marc has conceived a menu comprising some of Monsieur Dior’s favorites, such as “Turbot à la champenoise” or Turbot prepared in a delicate sauce of champagne, cream and chestnuts. And the scrumptious “Kalouga chocolat-café-mangue” – yes, the very same, dark, and salted butter caramel-oozing Kalouga!

The menu will be available during the upcoming haute couture and ready-to-wear show weeks, January 24 to 28 and March 1 to 9 respectively, the next best thing to going back in time and attending one of Monsieur Dior’s dinner parties.
