The world’s most expensive coffee comes to Sydney

Sydneysiders will soon have the opportunity to sample the most expensive coffee in the world for $55 per serving. The coffee will be prepared using a blend called Esmeralda Geisha Canas Verdes Natural, which was purchased by Jason Kew, of the Sydney Coffee Business for $601 per pound.

Kew purchased all 100 pounds of the pricey blend offer and narrowly outbid a Japanese rival by $1. In the process he smashed the previous world record of $350 per pound. Kew sold 40 pounds of the coffee to the man he outbid and has now teamed up with Sharon Jan, from Seven Miles Coffee Roasters, to host a coffee tasting event called the 601 Experience. The tasting will be held at the store in Manly Vale.

Each $55 ticket to the event will allow entry to two guests but will only include one 15g serve of the coffee, which has been roasted by Sam Cora from ONA Coffee. Guests can purchase another 15g for $45.

At the tasting, guests can either have their coffee brewed for them by one of the master brewers or do it themselves in a DIY area using the equipment provided.
