These are the 50 best restaurants in the world for 2018

The list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants is out and it’s causing a stir. While some consider this list to be a veritable fine dining bible, it has drawn criticism from several chefs and critics for its very narrow judging parameters. The odds are undeniably skewed towards male chefs who tend to serve up European style fare, with only few women and non-European chefs and restaurants earning a spot.

This year the top spot was claimed by Osteria Francescana in Italy and its head chef Massimo Bottura. This Chef previously earned the top honors back in 2016. In second place is Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca, which won the top spot in 2015 and in third place is the Mirazur restaurant in France. No women chefs were included in the top ten and only five made it to the overall list.
