The special edition “Anglepoise + Paul Smith lamp” puts the iconic Type 75 design in spotlight

British designer Paul Smith takes the traditional aesthetic of a contemporary street lamp and introduces a modernist form by his playful color-by-component approach in the new interpretation of the iconic Type 75 Anglepoise which marks the brand’s 80th anniversary. After much anticipation, the final design was revealed at Clerkenwell Design Week in London. Paul Smith revisited the timeless Type 75 design, originally designed by British industrial product designer, Sir Kenneth Grange for the special edition table lamps.

Paul Smith combines heritage inspired colors, woven cable and authentic brass details for a playful result. Warm grey-olive tones are contrasted with sharp accents of fuchsia and lime, with cornflower and clay added to stunning effect. The lamp features a curved back and hooded shade to focus the light acutely from the light source to the table surface.
