Bespoke Luxury on Bintan


The Sanchaya is Bintan’s luxurious new beachfront estate. The property which opened its doors to guests in January this year is the first property to open on the island in 15 years. The Sanchaya was conceptualised by its founder, Natalya Pavchinskaya whose passion and philosophy on lifestyle and art can be found across the property. The Sanchaya brings to life the concept of ‘The Salon’, a feature prevalent throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, to welcome guests and to share with others ‘La Vie Vivant’ – through food, arts, and culture.

A few short weeks after their opening, The Sanchaya Bintan debuted on the highly coveted Travel + Leisure (USA) 2015 “It List” of the 43 Best New Hotels Around the Globe. The estate has received rave reviews is several other prestigious including the Conde Nast Traveler (USA), Hot List of Best New Hotels in the World, and more recently the coveted honor of Andrew Harper’s prestigious recommendation for the Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report (May).

The Sanchaya is the only property on Bintan Island with its own VIP Lounge. This ensures seamless arrival and departure for its guests as formalities are handled by The Estate Artisans.
Visitors can reach Bintan via direct domestic flight connections from Jakarta to Tanjung Pinang Airport.
Besides its international guests, the island estate is frequented by residents and visitors from Singapore thanks to an easy 45-minute high-speed ferry transfer from Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, 15 minutes from Singapore Changi International Airport. Visitors can also hire the estate’s Cranchi 54 Fly yacht, which can accommodate up to eight people for transfers from Singapore to Bintan. The yacht can be hired for private charters too.


Estate Living
The Estate is home to a unique collection of 21 villas and nine suites that promises guests a highly personalized service, attention to detail and touches from a colonial elegance of a by-gone era. Each villa and suite has its own unique sense of style, reflecting the culture, history and art of different countries in the region. All suites and villas at The Sanchaya feature king-sized beds, walk-in closets, luxury amenities by Ploh bed and bath linen, a specially created bath menu that offers four exquisite bathing experiences, Bang & Olufsen televisions and sound systems, iPad minis and Wi-Fi.

Some of the unique accommodation themes include a taste of Thailand – with its elegant furnishings accented with dark wood, soft neutral tones and high vaulted ceilings, in the Lawan Village’s seven villas built around a beautiful man-made lagoon. The Leelawadee Villas are ideal for families with its three spacious bedrooms, decorated with Thai influences, lush garden views and private pool terraces.

Eight one-bedroom Sea View Villas take its influences from Laos, Indonesia. The Philippines and Vietnam and the four two-bedroom Sea View Villas reflect influences from Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia and Myanmar. Each of the villas come with private landscaped terraces and gardens.

For stunning views of the beach and the Indian Ocean, the nine suites located on the upper floor of The Great House are an ideal choice for guests. These Great House suites reflect art and luxurious furnishings sourced from across South East Asia.

The Dining Room is the Estate’s all day dining where guests can eat anytime they are hungry, rather than at specified meal times. A unique offering during the breakfast service is the local “Jamu Lady”, who serves “Jamu” drinks- a natural, traditional Indonesian tonic made from spices and root vegetables unique to the local area.

The Tasanee Grill is popular for its Bangkok street cuisine. From sizzling Thai BBQ meats and seafood to a variety of Asian salads and desserts, the Tasanee Grill take you back to the streets of Bangkok.

The Salon & Library lounge area located in the Great House, boasts a very special tasting/degustation room called Decanter, were guests can enjoy wine presentations and tastings of many varieties of both old and new world wines. A resident wine expert and Sommelier is available to take you through the Estate’s 400 wine labels.

The Bar, designed to serve as a private club, reflects the estate culture from a bygone era. The Sanchaya’s experienced bar artisans offer a la minute cocktails tableside, customized to the guest’s preference – a style which is currently en vogue in New York, London and Singapore. The Bar also serves a selection of Cuban long filler cigars.

Guests can also enjoy an exquisite range of afternoon tea menus, served in style in the Estate’s bespoke Luzern chinaware at several spots throughout the Estate. Hand ground custom gourmet coffee blends, a range of 12 luxury blended teas, or 72 per cent cacao melted hot chocolate are some of the offerings served with an irresistible array of classic sweet and savoury delicacies including warm scones with double clotted cream.

Each suite and villa has a wine fridge stocked up with a selection of fine wines handpicked by the Estate’s Sommelier. Guests can create a cheese platter of their choice from the comprehensive list available, and pair with the wines for an in-suite or villa wine and cheese indulgence.

Romantic five-course dinners and gourmet picnic hampers can be easily arranged for guests to enjoy on the beach and under the stars or on The Sanchaya yacht. Fun at The Sanchaya
There are several luxurious leisure facilities available across the estate including a 50-m Tasanee pool and an exquisite Spa. The Sanchaya Spa has indoor and outdoor treatment rooms and offer traditional massage therapies like Thai, Balinese and Swedish, as well as a Signature treatment featuring a combination of deep tissue and warm stone therapies. Poolside refreshments are delivered in the traditional “Tempo Doeloe”, where baskets are fixed to a shoulder sling, a common delivery method seen in Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
