Hats Off collection by Emily Baxendale for Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London has announced yet another collaboration. This one is quite fancy. We have seen how the English love their hats – from the monarch to an honest church-goer on Sundays at church. British couture milliner Emily Baxendale is going to ‘create the first ever “Hats Off” collection of fashionable hats and specialised headpieces, inspired by the hotel’s own history and oriental influences’.

She will handcraft six hats that will be a striking piece of art – fusing art, tradition and style. The capsule collection will be launched on May 24 at the Hats Off Afternoon Tea in the hotel’s The Rosebery Lounge, a special performance by the Tootsie Rollers, a retro girl band who fuses classics with contemporary hits.

During the event, there will be six different tea cakes on offer too, created by Executive Chef Pâtissière Heather Kaniuk to complement each design, which includes a raspberry rose lychee gateau to reference the Royal Gate entrance, a gooseberry, mascarpone and lime tart in honour of The Rosebery Lounge, and a nectarine raspberry frangipane cake inspired by the Royal Guards.

You can book for this occasion now for $76, and enjoy 10 percent off each hat. The offer runs until July 27, served daily from 12pm to 6pm.
