Hotel Everland Is Over The Top

Do customary hotels irk you? Are you one of those seeking a holiday venue out of the ordinary? A one-room hotel with a concierge? At an art institution? Hotel Everland, a project by Swiss artist-duo L/B (Sabina Lang and Daniel Baumann) is a brilliant, fun idea, suggesting an alternative holiday in pursuit of art, with a touch of architecture too. And only steps away, in fact, one floor away, from the art gallery. For the Hotel Everland stands on the roof of the art gallery, perched on top of it like some sort of spaceship. I

It is a hotel with only one room which provides an exclusive travel experience for 2 persons. It includes a bathroom deluxe, a king-size bed, and a lounge. Notable is the request to steal the golden embroidered bath towels as a memento. Hotel Everland was first developed for the Swiss national exhibition Expo.02 and was located on the lake of Yverdon. Afterward, the mobile pavilion was brought to Burgdorf and placed on the factory roof at L/B’s studio. In September 2007 Hotel Everland will move on to Paris where it will be installed on the roof of Palais de Tokyo. It will also be exhibited for one year and run as a hotel, but this time with a view on the Eiffel Tower.
