It was quite sad when Mohamed al-Fayed decided to sell off his up market London store Harrods. But it’s exiting times for the store as the new owners are planning to open a rooftop hotel over the department store. The new Qatar-based owners are planning for a five-star hotel for opulent guests that will come with 24-hours room service. If successful, other Harrods stores would follow suite as well. Other plans in the pipeline by consulting firm Boston Consulting Group include taking the Harrods “hotel” brand to several different cities, like Shanghai to begin with.
