The Mediterranean sailing season really gets going in April each year and so to celebrate here is a quick look at some of the best places to stay for boat lovers. From the Greek to the Balearic Islands, these Mediterranean villas all have their own private boat moorings, breath-taking views of the sea and private swimming pools to boot.

Perhaps the most famous location for sailing in the Mediterranean, the Greek Islands are the spiritual home for water lovers. For cooler conditions visit in late April and May, or if you prefer blazing sunshine on the water take trip during the mid-season months of June, July or August. The Greek sailing races kick off with the International Cyclades Regatta in the first week of July, followed by the Aegean Rally in late July and the Ionian Rally the first week of August.

No. 3 – The Beach House, Lefkada, Greece
Another Lefkada property – but you can’t have too many with Greece holding the famous Aegean Regatta, Aegean Rally and the International Cyclades Regatta this year.

The Beach House boasts views over the neighbouring Greek islands, has its own boat mooring and plenty of terraces to enjoy a morning coffee as the sun rises or something stronger in the evenings. Guests are welcomed by friendly staff and water skiing and wakeboarding can be organised in front of the villa. The Beach House sleeps 10 people with five bedrooms and shower rooms and boasts direct access to the beach as well as its own private pool. Guests who fancy themselves as a foodie can put their chef skills to good use with the villa’s built-in-barbeque and wood burning oven, the best way to cook up some delicious and authentic Mediterranean food.

No. 2 – Spirit of the Sea, Menorca, Balearic Islands
The Spirit of the Sea sits on Millionaire’s Row in the peaceful bay of San Antonio in Menorca. With a jetty and private mooring, visitors can pop across the bay to visit Mahon or hug the coast to discover charming fishing villages for a local lunch or dinner. If you don’t use your own boat, there is a water-taxi service available to visit Mahon, and Menorca’s beaches are all easily reached by car.

The house has been recently renovated and is elegantly furnished with lots of different entertaining areas and a myriad of terraces and quiet places to sit and enjoy the fabulous views. A superb roof terrace with its own kitchen, dining and seating area is the focal point of the house with wonderful views over the harbour and opening onto the oval pool and BBQ terrace.
