Italian design-esse with a stroke of oriental flavouring sounds like something out of a fusion box. If you like the sound of it, then you might be pleased to know that the Mandarin Oriental, Milan is now offering two suites inspired by Milanese designers – the Milano Suite, Piero Fornasetti and the Premier Suite by Gio Ponti.
They look out into the hotel’s stylish Michelin-star restaurant Seta and a picturesque garden. They each have a living room, bedroom, master bathroom and separate guest bathroom.
The Milano Suite fetaures decoratively framed mirrors on green walls, Venetian trumeau and a ‘Riflesso’ wallpaper-covered central pillar, the ‘Ultime Notizie’ table and ‘Capitello’ chairs in the dining area, and the ‘Fly’ coffee table, the ‘Guscio’ sofa and a ‘Boss’ black leather armchair, a Spoon XL bath tub, a writing desk from the ‘Farfalle’ collection in the bedroom and an ‘Architettura’ console table in the corridor. Sounds like Don Corleone threw a party and forgot to ship back his party décor.
Or, that would be more apt for the Premier Suite which is supposed to be a tribute to a star artist from the 50s, Gio Ponti. The room features Mangiarotti’s ‘Eros’ marble table illuminated by an iconic ‘2097-30/50’’ Sarfatti chandelier, an original console table by Gio Ponti and Citterio’s ‘Simpliciter’ sofa, a Catilina armchair, a Spoon XL bathtub and a ‘Cilindro’ pouf.
As part of this Suite Arrivals package, the hotel is giving a special offer all year round at EUR 2,050 ($2,335) and includes a limo airport transfer, and internet.
