DKNY launches a special Ramadan Collection for the Middle East

Fashionistas in the Middle East, we have some terrific news for you! New York-based fashion house DKNY has launched an exclusive womenswear collection for its Middle Eastern patrons currently celebrating the holy festival of Ramadan.

dkny-ramadan-collection-2The stunning collection boasts of bright, flowing maxi dresses, monochromatic pants and skirts, printed long-sleeved blouses, jumpsuits, three-quarter-length coats, somber-toned evening jackets and a variety of other modest and weather-appropriate trendy attire. The 12 piece capsule collection is entirely modelled and styled by two gorgeous Middle Eastern women – Yada Golsharifi from Kuwait, a fashion editor at Styles Magazine and Dubai-based fashion designer and TV presenter, Tamara Al Gabbani.

dkny-ramadan-collection-3Certain concerns were raised regarding the brand’s specialized collection with few people saying that the launch of the collection was going against the basic ideals of Ramadan such as fasting, prayer, focus on charity etc. however, Pakistani writer Bina Shah laid these concerns to bed with her insightful article in The Independent where she clarified, “Ramadan may be dedicated to spiritual practice, but Muslims are raised to celebrate it, and to bring a joyous spirit to the entire month, enjoying its blessings and benefits.”
