Luxury hits the Mumbai-Goa train sector with gourmet meals and personal screens

The next time Goa happens to feature on your vacation list, the destination may not be the only part of the journey to be excited about! Come June, the Indian railways are inaugurating a deluxe train service between Mumbai and Goa. And trust me, we’re talking celebrity chefs and individual LCD screens! Titled as the Tejas Express, this uber-premium service will commence this rainy season with 20 coaches.

Debuting this season, are automatic doors and secured gangways; privileges never experienced before by Indian railway passengers. North Indians, don’t be upset, we hear the Tejas service may soon catch onto the Delhi-Chandigarh route as well.

In addition to gourmet meals and individual screens, you will discover tea and coffee vending machines, magazines and snack tables. With water level indicators in bio-vacuum toilets, sensorised taps, and hand driers, this luxury extends to restrooms too. Finally a change from the mundane grey tone, the train’s interior colour scheme will now match the exterior to give the passengers a feel of world class travel.

Of course, it’s safety first! The LCD screens meant for entertainment purposes will also be used for disseminating passenger-related information and safety instructions.

I believe Goa is suddenly on everyone’s travel agenda!
