Mumbai’s Metro Inox is back with a fabulous 2.0 version

After a dramatic opening in Worli’s Atria Mall, renowned entertainment brand Inox Leisure has launched the fabulous Metro Inox. If you have experimented with the plethora of entertainment options we have in Mumbai, I’m certain you’d agree with me if I stated that the Inox banner is one of the most appealing and luxurious theatre brand we have. The plush-cushioned seats, gourmet meal options, and state-of-the-art sound systems may just be a few factors contributing to their success.

Main Lobby

Replacing the old theatre of Metro, the newly furnished Metro Inox at Dhobi Talao evokes a 1970-spirit with its heritage architecture, colossal ceilings, and arched windows. Now that the Gupta family has taken over the 1930’s icon and given it a new birth, the venue is now open to cinema lovers.

Although the theatre whiffs of an age-old spirit, it is truly an intriguing blend of 7-star luxuries coupled with a heritage icon. Upon entering the venue, I first marveled at the opulent chandeliers. Of course one of my favorite elements is the 1938-era MGM projector, from when Metro opened its doors. The Golden Ticket wall complete with tickets autographed by superstars; and a plethora of Bollywood’s untold stories, unfolding for the first time on the video wall.
Unwind Cafe

Metro Inox’s USP’s are certainly worth a mention. For the first time ever, the brand has introduced Kiddles – Mumbai’s only auditorium dedicated exclusively to children, complete with a carefully-crafted menu. Their Augmented Reality (AR) experience is also offered where you and I will be enthralled by amazing, life-sized 3D characters and scenes as they’re immersed in a unique, interactive digital environment. Lastly, their new Café Unwind has been designed and curated to offer an array of delicacies.

As part of a do-good initiative, Metro INOX partnered with ConnectFor and the Kutumb Foundation on 14th November, for a special screening of the film Despicable Me (3D) for 45 underprivileged children, in celebration of Children’s Day.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Siddharth Jain, Director, INOX Group says, “All our cinemas are special, however, Metro INOX is especially unique, given its history, its contribution to the city of Mumbai for almost 80 years, and the way it immediately evokes nostalgia in the hearts of every Mumbaikar. The city may have changed, but the essence of this glorious, cinematic icon remains untouched. We are honored to have been given the opportunity to play a role in its restoration, and we cannot wait to re-introduce this grand dame of cinema to Mumbai – and the rest of the country. We look forward to having you all join us as we begin a new chapter of Mumbai’s greatest love story.”

“Since the 1970’s, our family has had the extraordinary opportunity to own and be a part of the Metro story. Metro was never a cinema; it has always been an institution. We have seen it evolve and transform over the years and we couldn’t be happier that it is now opening as Metro INOX, with its former glory restored and with a forward-thinking vision that is sure to embrace a new generation of movie-goers,” comments the Gupta family.
