After Zuhair Murad dressed his Barbie doll in Blake Lively’s couture, Karl Lagerfeld has been invited by Mattel to design a Barbie doll inspired by the Chanel creative director and fashion icon. While those last bits give enough reason as to why there should be such a Barbie to begin with, we hear it’s going to come complete with the signature grey ponytail, fingerless gloves, the skinniest pants, all the Lagerfeld trimmings.
“It’s not everyday that Barbie dresses like the world’s most famous fashion designer,” said Global vice president of Barbie product design, Kim Culmone, said. To be released in autumn as part of Mattel’s Barbie Collector series, the Lagerfeld figurine will celebrate the 55th birthday of the iconic fashion doll. While additional details come out later this year, we can only imagine this will be the next best thing after the couturier’s last Tokidoki avatar.
