If history and whisky sounds like the perfect mix for you, this next product is definitely for you. The Dalmore brand owner Whyte & Mackay announced the release of one of the world’s oldest Scotch whiskies at last month’s TFWA World Exhibition. This exclusive collection promises drinkers a “real taste of a bygone era that no other product or brand can offer” with the launch of its new 50Yo expression of The Dalmore, first distilled 140 years ago. To add to its appeal each bottle will come with a handwritten letter signed by Richard Paterson, the Dalmore’s creator. Only 191 hand-blown Portuguese crystal decanters are being released, 50 of which will be made available to travel retailers. Each decanter will have a limited-edition silver neck tag and will be individually numbered. The Dalmore whisky is known to be one of the most exclusive whiskies ever to be purchased and consumed in one sitting.
This exquisite whisky is priced at GBP700 ($1,030) per unit of alcohol – the equivalent of around GBP5000 ($7,358) for a full-size 70cl bottle, or up to GBP800 ($1,178) a dram in on-trade outlets. So go ahead and grab this limited edition whisky for a taste of history.
