In a first of its kind the Royal Mint unveils a 100 GBP silver coin

For the first time in its history, the Royal Mint has specially unveiled a limited edition 100 pound silver coin for the New Year. The iconic clock tower, The Big Ben has found its place on the face of the coin. It is quite fitting to have the Big Ben on the coin as London is associated with the clock tower since years. It is potrayed as viewed from street level. It is the first coin in the UK with a face value of 100 pounds and it will be sold at that price. He other side of the coin has the fourth main portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

The coin will go on sale on December 29th. Only 50,000 of these coins will be made. Though they are legal tender, they will not be in circulation for use and will only be collectors item.
