Sony plans a $1.5 million man-made Rainbow in LA

I have seen a couple of rainbows in real life, and I am not just as yet bored of spotting one again. However I wonder if a perpetual rainbow can keep the charm sustained for too long. If you plan to live in Culver City, you might find out sooner as a permanent Rainbow on Sony Picture’s Culver City lot will be put up soon. Designed by Tony Tasset, the 188 feet wide and 8 feet thick rainbow is said to be 94 feet tall.

Crafted using welded steel truss with aluminum panels all coated with a resin-based paint, the rainbow is said to be visible from several parts of Culver City in west LA. The $1.5 million project is said to represent “the sense of optimism and well-being associated with rainbows in general and more specifically with the rainbow in popular culture as imagined in the iconic Wizard of Oz film“.
