Board games always bring back fuzzy childhood memories. Routinely adjusting your path for a closer look to see a skateboard hop handrail or takes a one-way trip to the great half pipe in the sky always induces a childlike joy. Bringing the visceral energy of the street and sea, Board Games will immerse every part of the Selfridges store this Spring season. Selfridges explores and interprets the influence of board sports on fashion with its bespoke limited edition. Available only for six weeks, this world exclusive collection will celebrate skate and surf through a fashion lens.

Surf and skate have become essential and consistent Spring/Summer reference points. And boards, which are ground zero for skateboarders is the conduit for most of the recognized designs and illustrations. Designed by the world’s biggest fashion brands including Stella McCartney and Rick Owens, Selfridges have worked to harness board sports unmistakable influence on fashion, lifestyle and culture.

Skate decks switch between bejewelled and bedazzling by Mawi through to a monochrome x-ray design of YohjiYamamato’s own skull. Dries Van Noten, Stella McCartney, Erdem, 3.1 Philip Lim, Christian Louboutin, Hood By Air, Kokon To Zai, Sophia Webster and Isabel Marant are just some of the names ensuring fashion heaven is a half pipe this season. Art-piece or street transport, these decks are all built to ride in California, with hardwear available to buy from the original London skate specialists Slam City Skates, who take residence for the duration of the project.

Priced at $4,250, this monochrome petrol green colored skateboard is one-off skateboard custom made by the Mawi team. With an emphasis on high end luxury, Mawi skateboard draws influence from spikes and futuristic esthetics.

Christian Louboutin skateboard deck maintains your high-fashion credentials down at the half-pipe with this limited-edition skateboard deck by the famed designer. Designed exclusively for the Selfridges Board Games initiative, it shows the face of the legendary footwear designer and a decadent print in the label’s signature colors. The skateboard deck is available for $125.

Sb Sacai skateboard is a one-off handcrafted skateboard that is custom made by the Sacai team and a truly luxe way to travel. Interestingly, the $14,160 skateboard is a display item only due to its delicate nature. Skating is not advised.

Applying one of the key prints from her resort 2014 offering onto a future collectible, Stella McCartney serves up scintillating cool with this skateboard. The high-contrast matchsticks make a quirky addition to any skate collection – wear with the matching shorts for the ultimate high-fashion board game, or hang it from your wall for a unique talking point. The wooden skateboard bears a matchstick and logo print at front, plain wood effect at back and is available for $125.

Honestly, at first glance it appeared like lots of sprinklers and delicious sweet treats had honey glued on the skateboard. Reality check, Caviar skateboard deck is handcrafted with thousands of glass pearls, this one-off skateboard deck custom made by the Ciaté London team. An ode to the original and best-known Rainbow Caviar Manicure which caused a Beauty storm back in March 2012, the board was glossed with a slick of Strawberry Milkshake pink and coated with multicoloured sprinkles, giving it that cupcake sprinkle finish. The $6,665 possession is a collector’s price and is not advised for skating due to its delicate nature.
