What Girls want – The best of Gizmodiva

bestofGD21.jpg As Christmas and New Year celebrations are just behind us, most of our wines and champagne bottles would need the Studded Bottle Stoppers to keep’em fresh till another revelry reason. After partying hard through the night, wake up to the call of Hello Kitty (stereo clock, radio and iPod charger) in the morning and bake yourself some crisp toast in the Avanté Deluxe Toaster. BTW, did you notice the Buick Red Bread Bin that will keep your loaf retro-fresh! Get into the cleaning mode (after-party chores) by zeroing down on the stains with this Stain Detector and slashing out at all the germs (which people bought with them) with the Handheld Germ Eliminator. This era will undeniably dubbed as the ‘i’ age as we covered the i-animals and i-birds from the i-world! ritter_royal_instruments_ud_sm.jpg There are 59,000 UAE millionaires who own 1,500 billion dirham (US $408 billion) and the number of UAE millionaires is growing %5 each year because of the rapid growth of UAE economy according to Emirates Today Arabic newspaper. The moment has come for everyone to take an up-close-and-personal look at the latest luxury lines by the world's most exclusive super brands at Emirates Millionaire Show 2006. Yesterday we featured the most expensive office chair, but today we have some thing for the music aficionados! The Black Arabian Star is a $620,000 Oud (Arabic Music Instrument) made by Ritter Royal Instruments. It is exclusively handcrafted with 103,59ct Black Diamond, one out of six biggest Black Diamonds ever found; round-cut with 3-ray Star on Top in Main Rosette. Rosettes as well as fingerboard inlay are actually made out of pure 24karat gold! Most Expensive Gold-plated Office Chair

most_expensive_office_chair_sm.jpg Today, with so many people sitting at computers all day long, it is no wonder they would only want the best when it comes to office furniture. Modern office chairs have grown far too complicated I agree. But this is one of the most illogically high-priced chairs! Interstuhl Manufactur is selling a $65,500 (50,000 euros) office chair designed by Hadi Teherani. Why is it so expensive? Well for one, it comes with the ottoman. Plus, its gold plated. And you thought it’s made of solid gold to sport this price-tag? But it’s not a big deal for the magnates who sign million-billion dollar deals every so often. What gets me wondering is that who will get enticed by this not-so-good-looking piece of office furniture just because it’s plated with glittery gold and carries the tag of ‘most expensive office chair’! There is also a silver version of this chair if you think this golden one is little expensive for your company to indulge you in. Continue reading “Most Expensive Gold-plated Office Chair” »

A British family shell out $3000 to fly their pet cat to New Zealand

cat_.jpg As a pet owner myself, I am well versed with the dilemma attached to leaving pets behind when going on a vacation or relocating to a newer farer destination. But here’s a bit of touchy news about a family who fished out $3000 to fly their pet cat, Snowy, from London to New Zealand! They surely are ardent pet lovers I guess. British family, Wilsons, moved from London to Christchurch this month and there was no way Snowy was going to be left behind. Snowy survived the 30 hour-plus trip and is now spending her dotage sleeping and lying in the sun at the Wilson family's Lincoln property. Although she is old and almost deaf and a bit stupid (that’s what the family said), she is an integral part of their family as she has been with them longer than their own kids. Snowy joined the family more than 20 years ago when Wilson's mother-in-law found the American white short-haired cat hiding in her privet hedge. Wow, this cat is undeniably a blessed soul! New York draws a whopping 44 million tourists in 2006

Visitors in 2006 included seven million from other countries, according to NYC & Co., which promotes and markets New York attractions. The international visitors included 1.2 million from Britain. Tourism is said to support nearly 350,000 jobs and generate $24 billion annually for New York, which is why Bloomberg is pushing to attract millions more tourists. Donald Trump express disapproval for Chicago Spire

504147.jpg Chicago, the city where the skyscraper was born just can't get enough of these super towers! On the other hand, our beloved Donald Trump is always making it to the headlines…whether it is for his deals or for commenting on other developer’s deals. Latest to come under the fire from one of America’s most famous businessmen is the Irish property developer Garrett Kelleher’s Chicago Spire. Chicago Spire (formerly known as the Fordham Spire) is a proposed supertall skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois, designed by Santiago Calatrava. Trump is bold enough to be loud about his critic opinion about it. In reacting to an amended design of Kelleher’s project, Donald has quoted that ‘‘The Chicago market is not good. There are many planned projects that won’t get built, and I predict this is one of them.” Continue reading “Donald Trump express disapproval for Chicago Spire” »

Gucci walks into Trump Tower

trump-tower-.jpg People of Midtown Manhattan have an additional added reason to rejoice! Gucci, which sells handbags that can cost $19,000, more than most Toyota cars has decided to move its flagship store to New York's Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue and expand on the world's most expensive shopping street. The Italian luxury retailer beat out rivals that included Armani and Ralph Lauren for the space. Gucci will move from its current digs at 685 Fifth Ave., at East 54th Street to the new site in 2008 after making substantial renovations in Trump Tower to spaces formerly occupied by the British jeweler Asprey and the cosmetics giant Avon. Asking rents for ground floor space on that section of Fifth Avenue start at $1,500 per square foot and can top $2,000 per square foot. The store will feature a four-story facade and three selling floors, compared to five at its current digs. Continue reading “Gucci walks into Trump Tower” »

Two Men Denied Slot Machine Winnings

casino.jpgI wonder what Vegas would do, but here is the gossip for you. Two lucky (or un-lucky) blokes won some cash ($209,000) on the slot machine. These guys from Manitoba were denied their winnings by the Winnipeg casino. They were playing a computerized version of Keno and got lucky. The machine pronounced them as the winner of the jackpot since they matched all the five numbers to the computer, but the casino (conveniently) said that it was a software error. Now the men are threatening legal action against the casino. Apparently this is not the first time a casino has tried to wiggle out of a payout. In 2005 a man from Virginia won more than $11 million US at a slot machine on a reserve in Oklahoma, but was told it was a software error, he had to settle for $1,199.
