Rich Kids of Instagram do it again, anger everyone by polishing rare Maserati with a puppy

The rich kids of Instagram are famous for their shameless display of wealth and their decadent lifestyles on social media. While most of their posts flaunt the swanky lives they lead and their obnoxious antics to shock everyone, some cross the line showing their utter disregard for the feelings of everyone other than themselves. The latest is a short video posted by the ‘Rich Kids of London’ that has angered animal lovers. Instagram user m666ya, who claims to be a rich supercar owner and entrepreneur, shared a clip of an extremely cute Maltese puppy to polish a rare Maserati MC12.

The caption on the 3-second video reads: “The only way to wash the iconic 6.0 litre #MaseratiMC12 is with 100% natural puppy fur ensuring a proper polish.” The Rich Kids London page also added: “(No puppy was harmed in this video – all smiles and tail wags here). Courtesy of @m666ya.” The seemingly content puppy barely moves at all and the creator of the page has later clarified: “I only posted this video as a joke and the dog was not harmed in this video as he was happy and the tail was wiggling.” However, animal lovers were outraged by the footage and called it an act of animal abuse.

The video has gathered more than 50k views and 700 comments in the last few days. Here are a few comments by people who were not amused:

“Stop it. It’s animal abuse.”

“STOP LIVING.”

“OMG Are you crazy??? You so terrible”

“It doesn’t matter if you were gentle with the dog or not; the point is, you’ve DONE it- rubbing a puppy over yr car. Its clearly an abuse and its disgusting, yr attitude. Shame on u”

There were also few who tried to defend the video, but were greatly outnumbered:

“Chill guys! He seems very gentle to the puppy. Look at the puppy’s face, if he’s in pain he would try to flee or bark or sth c’mon….”

We leave it to your discretion to decide if the video amounts to animal abuse or not and if it deserves the flak it has been receiving, but it’s not uncommon for social media accounts of its kind to garner criticism.
