If you are fixated on everything that comes with the “most expensive” tag, here is the Astor Suite at The Plaza Hotel, the most expensive rental apartment in NYC on the market for $165,000 per month. The famous hotel was built in 1907, and an interesting historic appeal is attached to its name. The first-ever guest who walked in was Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, and after World War II, guests such as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and John F. Kennedy stayed there. The suite here is being sold by residential brokerage firm Prudential Douglas Elliman and is spread over 5,087 square feet. It faces Central Park and Fifth Avenue and has its interiors designed by Steven Gambrel.
The suite here has the essence of bespoke luxury in each of its elements, like the leather walls with one-of-a-kind patter, silk rugs, and herringbone-patterned wooden floors. It also shows off state-of-the-art technology here with a heating/cooling system for protecting artwork, a Savant system that controls everything in the apartment from an iPad, and televisions hidden behind paintings on a hydraulic lift. The brokerage firm’s folks conceded that they had never seen anything like this before and if price isn’t a concern, then the buyer cannot get anything better than this.
